Disinfection Principle of Ultraviolet Lamp

Ultraviolet rays are a kind of low-energy electromagnetic waves, which have been widely used in medical, health and epidemic prevention, food industry, pharmaceutical industry and other sectors due to their good sterilization effect. But how to correctly use the ultraviolet lamp to ensure its sterilization effect, prolong the service life of the lamp tube, and avoid accidental injury is the first thing that every operator needs to master. Now we talk about the experience of using it for several years.

1 UV disinfection principle

Using ultraviolet radiation, the protein of the cell is degraded and denatured, and the amino acid, nucleic acid and enzyme of the cell are destroyed and died. At the same time, when ultraviolet rays pass through the air, the oxygen in the air is ionized to produce ozone, which enhances the sterilization effect.

2 UV disinfection method

Ultraviolet rays are mostly used for disinfection of air and surface of objects, wavelength 2573A. Used for air disinfection, the effective distance does not exceed Zm, the irradiation time is 30~60min, used for item disinfection, the effective distance is 25~60cm, the irradiation time is 20-30min, and the timer starts from 5-7min (the lamp needs to warm up for a certain time, In order to ionize the oxygen in the air to produce ozone).

3 UV disinfection measures

3.1 Because we use ultraviolet radiation for air disinfection, we must first ensure that the lamp is intact and correctly used, and at the same time, we must regularly monitor the lamp, and the intensity of the ultraviolet lamp should be less than 70uwc/lining should be replaced in time . The lamp tube should be kept clean. The surface of the lamp tube should be lightly tested with an alcohol cotton ball every 1 to 2 weeks to remove dust and greasy dirt to reduce the factors that affect the penetration of ultraviolet rays.

3.2 The light tube should be handled lightly and turned on immediately after turning off the light, which will reduce the life of the light tube. It should be cooled for 3-4 minutes and then turned on. It can be used continuously for 4h, but the ventilation and heat dissipation should be good to maintain the life of the lamp.

3.3 Keep the treatment room clean and dry at any time, and wipe the treatment room with a special rag soaked with disinfectant every day. Mop the floor with a special mop.

3.4 Regulate the daily monitoring and registration items of ultraviolet lamps. It is necessary to register in separate rooms and lamps. The registration book sets the date of lamp activation, daily disinfection time, cumulative time, executive signature, and intensity monitoring registration. Implementation is consistent with records.

3.5 Use the UV intensity indicator card or intensity monitor for the newly activated lamp to first determine the intensity of the lamp to ensure that the intensity of the new lamp is at 100. w/c lining above. After replacing the new lamp, the use time of the mold must be restarted. After the cumulative use time of the lamp reaches 1000h, contact the hospital infection monitoring professional in time to monitor the irradiation intensity of the lamp.If the lamp continues to be used, it will be replaced if it is unqualified. Lamp tube to ensure the disinfection effect of ultraviolet lamp.

Purple light

3.6 When disinfecting air, open all cabinet doors and drawers. In order to ensure that all spaces in the treatment room are fully exposed, they are irradiated with ultraviolet rays, and disinfection is as free as possible.

3.7 Strengthen the management and supervision of some outpatient departments, laboratories and other departments. It is recommended to install a UV lamp timer switch in the outpatient department to avoid sometimes wasting the power and the effective life of the lamp due to negligence of work.

3.8 The staff should make good work arrangements before ultraviolet disinfection, to avoid walking in the disinfection and poisoning room, which affects the disinfection effect and is unnecessarily exposed; when monitoring nurses monitor the intensity of the lamp, due to the large number of lamps, the stubble You must wear protective glasses and protective clothing when monitoring; in the ward with an ultraviolet lamp installed, the switch of the ultraviolet lamp should be separated from other ordinary lamps or be noted, and the patient and family members should be explained that the ultraviolet light cannot be turned on at will Lights, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
